WXPI Williamsport Community Radio is pleased to announce its first Summer Radio Camp, set to begin on Saturday, June 21st. It will run from 10am to 12 noon on four consecutive Saturdays, concluding on the 12th of July. The Summer Radio Camp will teach young people the basics of broadcasting. All students will record their own radio announcements and work together to put together a half-hour show that will air on WXPI Radio beginning in September. At the conclusion of the class, students are eligible to apply to be volunteers or volunteer show hosts on WXPI.

WXPI volunteers taught workshops and a broadcast training course this spring at after-school programs for the Williamsport Area Middle School, CAPPA, and The Center.

The WXPI Summer Radio Camp is open to area youth, ages 6 to 17. It will meet in the WXPI studio in Building 6 of The Pajama Factory, at 1307 Park Ave., accessible through the double glass doors off the parking lot at the corner of Rose Street and Park Avenue. The Radio Summer Camp is part of the WXPI Diversity Outreach Project, whose goal is to reach out to under-represented persons within the community and give them a voice on the airwaves so that they can create positive change in their communities.

To register or learn more about the WXPI Summer Radio Camp, please contact the Project Coordinator, Brian Spies, via email at project@wxpidop.org or by calling WXPI at (570) 505-1396.
